Official Nominee: The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards

Ecstatic to be among the nominees of this national awards program.

For the past 27 years, the Royal Bank of Canada has celebrated thousands of women across Canada who have been nominated for their hard work and dedication. The nominees are recognized for demonstrating excellence in their fields — from economic growth to social change — with both local and global reach.

And now I’m among their ranks.

I am truly stunned and honoured to have been nominated for this prestigious award. Hosted by Women of Influence, a community dedicated to the advancement of women in the workplace, the awards take place this November in Toronto, where women across multiple fields and disciplines will converge for one night to celebrate our success. Finalists won’t be announced until September, but for now, I’m content to bask in the glow of the knowledge that I AM making a difference.

The Nicola Finch Laserspa Academy

I love being a medical aesthetics teacher and showing my students that this career is so much more than skin deep. I love celebrating their successes, too, once they graduate on to bigger and better careers! I’m so proud of my students, and that I can offer them a quality education and training on the industry’s best and biggest names thanks to having been in the medical aesthetics industry for over 35 years.

It’s only recently that I realized teaching was the next natural step so that I could share my knowledge. Isn’t that what it’s all about in life—and your profession? Giving of yourself has only lead to career happiness, in my experience. Sure it’s hard. There are overwhelming days. Being an entrepreneur means extra work, extra pressure on yourself, and extra responsibility. But those difficult days only make the bright days shine so much brighter. Like when you’re nominated for an amazing award for all of the hard work you thought maybe no one noticed.

Thank you to everyone who believes in me! I couldn’t do this job without you. Special thanks to Kimberly Deagnon.

~ Nicola
