May Flowers: The beauty of Feminine Power

Apparently April missed the memo this year about bringing showers, but that doesn’t mean the flowers aren’t out in full bloom for May! I love this time of year: the sun is energizing, the blossoms are starting, and beauty is all around. I love being in the business of beauty.

The second woman in my family to go into medical aesthetics, my daughter, Alexandra followed in her mother and grandmother’s footsteps and has been part of my journey for the past 30+ years in the business. While she went off for a while in her twenties to work in a Spa on a cruise ship, I’m ever so glad she’s back and settled in the Okanagan now and working side-by-side with me. She’s also the proud new mom to baby Isla. Think the beauty industry is strong in our blood and we can stretch it to four generations!?

Moms: Mother Nature’s Best Example of a Balancing Act

It can be hard enough being a mom without adding in the extras of job, career and life at large! And when one does decide to take that leap to either return to a previous job or embark on a whole new path -- little ones in the mix now -- there’s usually a lot of extra emotion thrown in. Are you making the right decision? Will family suffer? Will work suffer? After becoming a mom and going back to work, whether you want to or not, it’s important to remember that everyone does the best they can with what they’ve got. We all need to learn to be a little kinder and more patient with ourselves.
